Idols

I have no idols in my life; I serve no gods of wood or stone
My heart belongs to Jesus Christ; I bow my knee to Him alone.
I've served the Lord for many years, I know I've given Him everything
And nothing stands before Him now, my only God, my one true King.
What's that I hear You saying, Lord--
Let all my idols fall?

Of course I'll give an offering, you know I'd like to give some more,
But Lord I'm sure you understand that all my money's spoken for.
You say my brother needs some help? I just can't spare the time today.
I'll bless him now in Jesus name and send him off to find his way.

I know I'm skipping Church tonight; I owe myself a little rest
I'll do some fun things just for me. I'm sure the Lord would feel that's best.
I'll exercise and eat just right, get perms and tints and facial aid
A little makeup sure can't hurt, I mustn't let my beauty fade.
What's that I hear You saying, Lord--
Let all my idols fall?

I've climbed the ladder of success with fame and fortune in my reach
I'm sure You can't be asking me to give this up to go and preach.
You've called my son to serve You now in lands where he'll face toil and fear
I want him safe and happy, Lord, You've got to let him serve You here.
What's that I hear You saying, Lord--
Let all my idols fall?

I always thought an idol was a god that's made by human hand
I knew my heart held none of those but now I think I understand
That beauty, pleasure, wealth and time, success and even family too
Have all been idols in my life because they've stood, Lord, before You.
I hear, now, what You're saying, Lord-
Let ALL my idols fall.
